John Cena made his way out to the ring, greeted by a very split crowd. Loud “LET’S GO CENA / CENA SUCKS” chants broke out and the 16-time world champion took a moment to soak it all in. He sarcastically said it’s always good to be back in Los Angeles, addressing the crowd, before reminding everyone of his lost opportunities at Royal Rumble and Elimination Chamber. John proposed that Shane McMahon add him to the WWE Championship Fatal 5-Way match at next month’s WWE Fastlane pay-per-view.

The Smackdown Commissioner made his way out and made a big deal about how Cena is one of the biggest WWE Superstars of all time and how proud he was to have him back on Smackdown Live. As far as his proposal goes, Shane asked the crowd what they thought, which was met with a mix of loud boos and some cheers. He noted that Cena is basically asking to be handed a WWE title match, and if he wins he’ll make history by main eventing WrestleMania as the first 17-time world champion in history.

Daniel Bryan cut them both off and said that Smackdown is the land of opportunity, and every one of the men in the Fatal 5-Way match had to earn their way into the main event of WWE Fastlane. But if Cena wants an opportunity he can have one just like everyone else. If he agrees to fight in the main event of Smackdown tonight, and if he wins his match, he will be added to the title match. Cena quickly agrees and asks who his opponent is for the main event. Tonight it will be John Cena vs…. AJ STYLES!

BARON CORBIN vs. SAMI ZAYN

Kevin Owens came out to join commentary before the match could get started. He spent the entire match DESTROYING the commentary team, refusing to answer questions from Byron because he sounded too much like Tom Phillips, and screaming at Corbin about his receding hairline. Corbin controlled most of the early match with stiff blows all around the ring, throwing knee strikes in the corner and throwing his size around. He went out after Owens after the crack about his hair, which let Zayn take advantage of the distraction and throw him over the barricade.

After a commercial break both stars were in a stalemate going back and forth with right hands and harsh strikes. Shane McMahon and Daniel Bryan are shown backstage watching the match and offering their comments on the bout, while Owens is mocking Byron for his hair and his failed wrestling career. There’s a match going on somewhere I’m pretty sure…

Corbin threw Sami into the announce table and KO yelled at him for being an idiot and messing up his television monitor, and the two almost come to blows. Order was eventually restored and Owens said he was okay, but got blindsided by a superkick from Dolph Ziggler who came out of literally nowhere. Corbin used the distraction to hit the End of Days on Sami Zayn and pick up the three-count, but Ziggler then dropped the winner with a ZigZag and stood over all of them.

Winner: Baron Corbin
