West Ham’s Issa Diop to join Fulham over Lyon for over €20m

RMC Sport, as initially broken by Foot Mercato, report this morning that West Ham defender Issa Diop is set to complete a move across London to join newly-promoted side Fulham, having previously been linked with a move back to France to join Lyon.

L’Équipe were indicating last week that talks were progressing between the Hammers and Les Gones, who were looking to reinforce their defensive options, with Jason Denayer leaving and Jérôme Boateng potentially following him out the exit door.

The former Toulouse man’s price tag had been set at €15m. Now, his move to Fulham has been estimated at more than €20m, as the 25-year-old looks set to remain in the Premier League.

Diop leaves the club having made a total of 121 appearances, but has been unable to impose himself as a consistent starter in the team. His departure comes in the wake of the signing of the Moroccan international Nayef Aguerd from Rennes, in the same position.
