There was a crazy moment in the meeting between Leicester and Bath at Welford Road as a clearing kick turned into the perfect pass for Tigers.
Saturday’s hosts were already cruising to a third straight league victory, but when things are going for you, they are going for you, as Leicester found out.
All on-side from the kick
The bizarre moment came in the 72nd minute as Bath wing Matt Gallagher booted the ball down to Charlie Atkinson, who controlled it well in his own 22.
His footwork to trap the ball before clearing offered a chasing Bath defender extra time to launch an attempt to charge down the kick, which he did, almost.
Unfortunately for Gallagher, who was the first Bath man to pressure his the Tigers from his own clearance, the ball only glanced his hand en route downfield.
Subsequently, that was a nightmare scenario for Bath, and the dream one for Leicester, whose players tracking back near halfway were now deemed on-side.
Tigers centre Matt Scott was the welcome recipient of Atkinson’s kick bang on the halfway line, and he soon found Mike Brown in support as Bath were in strife.
The in-form full-back had the simple task of drawing the final man and sending replacement Harry Wells over for Leicester’s sixth and final try of the match.

As we say in the above tweet, it is definitely one for the Question of Sport ‘what happens next’ segment, as Bath will have been cursing their luck after this.
Tigers’ 48-27 victory puts them in third place on the Premiership table as their recent run of good form has propelled them up the standings at a key time.
Richard Wigglesworth side’s other try scorers on the day were Harry Potter, Handre Pollard, Julian Montoya (2) and Hanro Liebenberg in a thrilling game.
Bath, meanwhile, remain rooted to the bottom of the table, with Gallagher, Ben Spencer, Josh McNally and Fergus Lee-Warner grabbing their tries on Saturday.
