Wasps: Vincent Koch and Paolo Odogwu snapped up by Stade Francais

Stade Francais have confirmed the high-profile signings of former Wasps duo Vincent Koch and Paolo Odogwu, who join as medical jokers.

The pair were recently made redundant due to the financial problems at the Premiership outfit but have quickly found new homes until the end of the season.

Koch, who was a Premiership and Champions Cup winner at Saracens before moving to Wasps ahead of 2022/23, will no doubt add quality to the front-row.

The 32-year-old Springbok also lifted the Rugby World Cup with South Africa in 2019 and comes in at Stade Francais as a medical joker for Paul Alo-Emile.

Before making the move to England with Sarries in 2016, Koch made a name for himself at the Stormers, who acquired him from the Pumas one year earlier.

He has won 38 caps for the Springboks to date and is expected to add to that tally in the upcoming Autumn Nations Series and at next year’s Rugby World Cup.

Another ex-Wasp on the move

Joining Koch at the Top 14 side will be former Wasps team-mate Odogwu, with Stade Francais confirming the back is another medical joker move to the club.

Odogwu is an electric runner and is sure to excite the Parisian side’s supporters, with the 25-year-old comfortable to run out at either outside centre or wing.

The flying back was released by Leicester Tigers at academy level and shone at Sale Sharks before he made a name for himself at Wasps from 2019 to 2022.

Odogwu has been signed as a medical joker for the injured Sefa Naivalu as Stade Francais bring in a quality addition as they look to enjoy a strong season.

The Parisians currently sit in second place in the Top 14 standings in a tightly fought pack behind the pace-setters Toulouse, who are nine points clear.

Stade Francais continue spree

Fijian wing Peniasi Dakuwaqa has also been brought in by the French club because of the absence due to injury of Tonga international star Telusa Veainu.

Dakuwaqa joins from Tupapa Maraerenga in the Cook Islands in the third deal of the day for the club as they prepare to take on Montpellier on Saturday.
