While UFC President Dana White has made it clear in public interviews that he has not had any talks with WWE star Brock Lesnar, but would be willing to once his pro wrestling deal expires, the company itself has reportedly discussed options for opponents for Lesnar if he were to sign.
According to the latest edition of Wrestling Observer Radio, UFC officials have discussed possible opponents for Lesnar if he were to return to the company, most notably Frank Mir, who Lesnar has had a storied history with.
Lesnar fought Mir in his first ever UFC fight back at UFC 81, losing to the submission specialist via knee bar. However, at what still remains the biggest pay-per-view in UFC history — UFC 100 — Lesnar evened the score, TKO’ing Mir.
Lesnar, the current WWE World Heavyweight Champion, last fought for the UFC at UFC 169, losing to Alistair Overeem by TKO. Since then, he has not competed in MMA on any level, opting instead to return to the WWE.
Lesnar’s deal with WWE is set to expire in March after he competes at the WrestleMania 31 event. Rumors insist Lesnar may end up leaving the pro wrestling world in favor of an MMA return, with many assuming UFC and Bellator will battle for his services when — or if — he becomes a free agent.
