Wow, I cannot believe it is almost Memorial Day. It is literally just around the corner. Where has the spring season gone? Memorial Day cookouts and picnics, here we come! So in honor of Memorial Day, I thought I would throw a little red, white, and blue into the mix. Remember when people would wear red, white, and blue for this holiday? Perhaps not quite as much as for the Fourth of July, but this patriotic color combination has long been a Memorial Day “favorite”. Jewelry, especially. And clothing too. What about handbags though? Well… yes, there are a few of those floating around. The one you see here particularly caught my eye. Introducing the Totem Salvaged Appliquéd Cotton Clutch!
I must say, this is piece is certainly different. The designer is known for using globally sourced vintage fabrics. The red, white (ecru), and blue canvas used for this clutch is very handmade looking. Well, the clutch actually is handmade. But what I mean is that it looks like part of a Revolutionary War-era flag. I like the lopsided star and how the stripes are not all the same width. Plus the leather tie, complete with bead embellishments, is a really sweet touch. Could this clutch be worn more than two days out of the year? Maybe. Only if you are really bold though. Otherwise, probably not.
