TNA Wanted Ray Lewis, TNA Referee Quits, Konnan's Kidney

source: Wrestling Observer Newsletter

There were negotiations for a Sam Wycheck vs. Ray Lewis match at Slammiversary. On Memorial Day, Lewis actually agreed to the match. However, the Baltimore Ravens called TNA a few hours later and refused to let him do the match. This is the second time in which Lewis supposedly came close to wrestling on a PPV. In 2001, Lewis had agreed to wrestle Triple H at WrestleMania 17, and the day the angle was supposed to be shot, with Lewis in town no less, he got cold feet and backed out.

Slick Johnson, the referee who always wore shorts instead of pants in the ring, has quit TNA to take a full-time job outside of wrestling.

If everything goes smoothly as far as tests with the donor are concerned, Konnan will be getting his kidney transplant done during the first week of July.
