This Pakistani Woman Has Been Tying Rakhi To PM Modi For Last 20 Years

Raksha Bandhan is celebrated to symbolise the strong bond between brothers and sisters and the love and affection shared between them.

The occasion occupies a special place in the Hindu religious calendar. The festival is celebrated with fervour and gaiety among people from different communities. On this day the brother pledges to protect his sisters’ honour and gifts her as a token of the bonding. It is celebrated on the full moon day of the Hindu month of Shravana in India.

Indian Prime Minister, Narendra Modi also celebrated this occasion with women and children from all walks of life. However, Modi was greeted by a special guest at his residence on Sunday. A woman with origins in Pakistan, Qamar Mohsin Shaikh tied Rakhi to the PM’s wrist, a ritual she has been carrying out for the past 20 years.
