The Latest On How Spinal Stenosis Might Affect Sheamus’ WWE Career, Jim Cornette Rips Impact Wrestling Baseball Bat Spot

As we have noted in the past, WWE Raw Tag Team Champion Sheamus has spinal stenosis, an issue which, according to The Mayo Clinic, is a narrowing of the spaces within your spine, which can put pressure on the nerves that travel through the spine. It occurs most often in the lower back and the neck.

Spinal Stenosis is an issue which has contributed to the premature career endings of WWE Hall of Famers Edge and Steve Austin, however, Sheamus continues to work through the injury and wrestles regularly for WWE.

On a recent edition of Wrestling Observer Radio, host Dave Meltzer commented on Sheamus’ condition and had the following to say on how The Celtic Warrior is able to continue competing in the ring:

“A lot of guys have [spinal stenosis]. It’s not a good thing to have and it will affect him most likely when he gets older in not so great ways. He’s working hard. When you look at him physically, you don’t sense that he’s got weakness, that he can’t lift weights anymore or things like that. It doesn’t look as if it’s affecting him too much right now. It’s looking like he can work pretty well and everything like that. In the long run, it’s not a good thing to have. Austin has it and he lives a normal life but he doesn’t wrestle anymore. It probably will shorten [Sheamus’] career.“

As we noted moments ago, hype for the “baseball bat incident” on Impact Wrestling last night helped the show draw its best audience in 2018, and the promotion of the spot was certainly not a letdown, as it was every bit as brutal as it was advertised to be. You can watch the spot in the video above.

One person who was not happy with the incident and how it played out on TV is Jim Cornette, who Tweeted the following criticism:

OK, I just saw this for the first time– @TheEddieEdwards should have beat the shit out of this stupid fuck–he set it up shoddy, was careless with his shitty swing & they shouldn’t have been doing it to begin with. Who the fuck “trained” @TheSamiCallihan ? I’m fucking hot. https://t.co/lpTIqxca29
