L’Équipe report that Ligue 1 side Rennes started the negotiating with Chelsea for 28-year-old goalkeeper Édouard Mendy at €40m + the free loan of 33-year-old French international striker Olivier Giroud.
The transfer of Mendy to Chelsea, although not yet concluded, is a question of when and not if. The final fee is expected to be €28m including bonuses.
