Rennes forward Arnaud Kalimuendo picks up an injury in win over PSG

Rennes may be flying high after a 1-0 win over Ligue 1 leaders, PSG, but the victory is not without loss. One of Rennes’ best players during the match, Arnaud Kalimuendo, picked up a muscular injury and is now doubtful for their next match against Marseille.

Head coach, Bruno Génésio spoke about the injury stating, “He is suffering from a muscular problem, it is starting to add up because we are losing a lot of players.”

The French coach’s statement on the team picking up another injury on the attacking side of the ball is a valid concern. This loss comes right after a season-ending injury to star striker Martin Terrier. Kalimuendo will undergo tests tomorrow to determine the exact nature of his injury. Even if the 20-year-old is able to return in the near future the Brittany-based club may want to start considering bringing in reinforcements to add some depth.

Outside of an impressive performance against PSG, the French youth international has been an important piece of the Rennes attack, scoring 4 goals and 1 assist.
