There has been a lot of talk about WWE negotiating with other networks when their current deal with USA Network expires in 2019. Dave Meltzer made an interesting note in the Wrestling Observer Newsletter when he revealed that there is interest from FOX in picking up WWE programming very soon. There is still a while to go before any serious decisions about the matter are made, but a possible move to FOX could suggest that Monday Night Raw will move back to two hours. FOX currently has a 10pm news cycle that airs, so it definitely seems possible that a move to the network next year will see Raw’s runtime get reduced by at least one hour.
Almost every single woman on the Raw and Smackdown rosters are confirmed to appear in the first women’s Royal Rumble match later on this month. WWE reportedly has several surprise entrants booked for the match, but Total Divas on E! may have spoiled two of those surprise participants. The sisters spoke with WWE Senior Director of Talent Relations Mark Carrano on the latest edition of the show, and the Bellas were both invited to appear in the upcoming Royal Rumble match, as well as participate in storylines leading up to WrestleMania 34 in April. Brie Bella has not wrestled since WrestleMania 32 in 2016, and Nikki Bella has not competed since WrestleMania 33 last year.
Ring of Honor has been attempting to build up their women’s wrestling division over the past few weeks. It appears as though the promotion will be taking another huge step in working with their female talent going forward. Squared Circle Sirens has now reported that Ring of Honor has offered some non-exclusive contracts to the Women of Honor. It has been confirmed that Kelly Klein, Mandy Leon, and Deonna Purrazzo are among the talents that have been offered deals. ROH is hosting a tournament at the moment which will the the crowning of the inaugural Women of Honor Champion later on this month.
