Group Captain Yeshpal Singh Negi was piloting MiG-21 fighter jet that crashed near Gwalior on September 25. The accident could have been a full-blown disaster if it was not for Negi’s experience.
Negi was instrumental in planning of the cross-border air strikes against a terror camp in Pakistan’s Balakot on February 26, said a report by Hindustan Times.
India did airstrikes against Jaish-e-Mohammed terror base after February’s Pulwama suicide car bomb attack in which 40 Central Reserve Police Force men were killed. On Independence Day, Negi was decorated with Yudh Seva Medal for his role in planning the Balakot operation.
