Hartford Marathon Foundation Recognizes Inspirational Athletes

for 3rd annual Elite Inspiration Team at ING Hartford Marathon

Glastonbury, CT ÛÓ The Hartford Marathon Foundation is accepting nominations
for this year’s ING Hartford Marathon Elite Inspiration Team. To celebrate the
20th running of the ING Hartford Marathon, Saturday, October 12,
2013 in Hartford, CT, the 2013 Elite Inspiration Team will represent the overall
Marathon theme of Û¢Coming Together.’ This year’s nominees will be selected
based on their positive contributions to their communities. Candidate profiles
must reflect ways in which the runner has been positively linked to a cause or
volunteer organization or ways in which the nominee has been an encouraging
role model for others.
Nominations will be accepted from runners of any age or
skill level participating in the ING Hartford Marathon, Half Marathon or 5K.
Runners can nominate themselves or others who they feel fits within the overall
theme of coming together to better the community. Elite Inspiration Team
members will be provided with Elite level benefits during race weekend including
complimentary hotel stay, Pasta Supper and marathon apparel. Nomination forms are available on the
Û¢events’ page for the ING Hartford Marathon at www.INGHartfordMarathon.com.
Nominations are accepted May 3 through June 30. Winners will be notified in
July.
The Elite Inspiration Team was created in 2011 to recognize
the many amazing personal journeys and experiences that compel runners to take
part in the ING Hartford Marathon events.

communities. The 20th running
of the ING Hartford Marathon represents many years of support for charities and
communities and we’re excited to have the Elite Inspiration Team represent
those efforts.” said Beth Shluger, Executive Director of the Hartford Marathon
Foundation. “For the past two years,
we’ve had an incredible group of people represent the Elite Inspiration Team.
We’re honored they chose to run with us in Hartford and share their incredible
personal journeys.”
The ING Hartford Marathon will celebrate its 20th
anniversary on Saturday, October 12 in Bushnell Park, Hartford. The event has
received national recognition for its commitment to providing all runners with
exceptional services, including award-winning post-race food and extensive
efforts to off-set the environmental impact of the event. A repeat recipient of
recognition by the Road Runners Club of America, the Marathon has earned Regional
Championship and National Championship status.
