News on Kevin Owens’ Injury, Ellsworth Returns, Chelsea Green

Kevin Owens is currently booked for a major 2-on-1 handicap match at the Royal Rumble pay-per-view this Sunday night. Owens will be teaming up with Sami Zayn to take on AJ Styles for the WWE Championship during the show. Unfortunately, PWInsider has reported that a back injury has caused Owens to miss a few of the live events that he had been scheduled to appear on over the past week. Despite this, a new report has revealed that Owens will still likely be competing in the handicap match at the Royal Rumble. His time in the ring during the match may be limited due to the potential severity of the injury, but that was not specified.
James Ellsworth became one of the most unlikely members of the WWE roster when he was signed to a contract back in 2016. He mostly worked on Smackdown alongside Carmella for most of his WWE run, but he was released from the company late last year. Even though his 90-day no-compete clause with WWE is still not through just yet, Ellsworth recently thanked WWE for allowing him to appear on a recent Destiny Wrestling event. Ellsworth made his return to indie wrestling by winning the Santino Cobra Cup for a shot a the Destiny Championship. He later attempted to cash in his shot during the Pete Dunne vs. Austin Aries main event. Instead of winning the match, Dunne gave Ellsworth a Tombstone.

Thanks @WWE for letting me a surprise @DestinyWrestle tonight in Canada, had a blast, felt good to perform again, I missed it..

One face who is expected to start wrestling for WWE very soon is Chelsea Green (formerly known as Laurel Van Ness). Ever since Green’s departure from Impact Wrestling a few weeks ago, several sources have confirmed that WWE is definitely interested in signing her to a deal. For now though, PWInsider reports that Green’s next stop in her career will be at a Major League Wrestling event. Green will be taking on Priscilla Kelly during the February 8th show. It’s reportedly only a matter of time before Green begins wrestling for WWE, but it looks like she will continue to wrestle on the independent circuit until that time arrives.
