— AEW’s new deal with Turner works ut to just under $45 million annually with “escalators built into the contract”, reports the Wrestling Observer Newsletter. The move ensures that Dynamite will almost surely air through 2023 even if ratings decrease and if popularity increases, then AEW would be a position to profit greatly in 2025 when the deal fully expires (TNT has a one-year option that they could kick in for 2023-2024).
— The new deal is similar with what WWE has with Raw and Smackdown in that production costs are now covered by the promotion rather than the network. However, AEW’s deal will continue to get some sort of advertising split, which is something WWE doesn’t get with Raw or Smackdown. Ultimately though, the deal falls way short of Raw’s $265 million per year and Smackdown’s $205 million per year with USA and FOX, respectively, but more than the $30 million annually that USA is paying for NXT.
