Miu Miu is known for blending sophistication with whimsy in a way that seems almost unapologetic. Of course when I think of Miu Miu, I think of the matelassé styles. I love the soft folds of leather as they zigzag across the handbag or clutch. The signature technique creates a look like no other! Sometimes I forget that not all Miu Miu handbags look this way. In fact, there are some structured styles out there with clean lines and sharp edges. Take the Miu Miu Madras Bag for example.
No doubt, it was the color that immediately grabbed my attention with this style. Hel-LO blue! Man, it is such a gorgeous color and absolutely perfect for Spring. It looks really nice on the textured goat leather too! However, there is more to this handbag than simply the flashy color. I was really taken aback by the structured shape. It has those nice clean lines, yet the style is rounded instead of boxy. I suppose that is where the touch of whimsy comes in, huh? I just love the English satchel-esque look too. The flap closure is secured with two turn-lock clasps. The flap opens to reveal a rather practical interior with three compartments to help keep you organized. My only regret is that it isn’t a tad bigger so it could be used as a work bag.
