COLUMBIA, Mo. – The No. 7-ranked and unbeaten Missouri wrestling team rolled to a 37-7 victory over North Dakota State on Saturday, Jan. 19 inside the Hearnes Center.
Bison senior 125-pounder Trent Sprenkle recorded a 13-2 major decision over Boomer Boyd to give NDSU a 4-0 lead early, but that was the only lead the Bison would hold.
NDSU junior Steven Monk, ranked No. 6 in the nation at 165 pounds, posted his fifth victory over a top-11 opponent this season with a 3-0 decision of No. 10 Zach Toal.
No. 7 Nathan McCormick of Missouri registered a fall at 133 pounds, and the Tigers were the benefactors of forfeits at 157 pounds and 184 pounds.
Missouri (8-0-1) had not allowed more than three points in a home dual this season prior to tonight.
The dual with Missouri was NDSU’s sixth against a ranked opponent and third against a top-10 team this season.
NDSU (5-7) will open Western Wrestling Conference action at Air Force on Friday, Jan. 25, and take on defending WWC champion Wyoming on the road on Sunday, Jan. 27.
