Michael Kors Miranda Novelty Tote

When Michael Kors launched his diffusion line ten years ago, it changed the way people saw his designs. When most people think of Michael Kors now they think of his more affordable diffusion line. They don’t think of his luxury collection. This isn’t necessarily a bad thing. After all, he offers a variety of lovely handbags that are easy on the eyes AND the wallet. Unfortunately, there is also a side effect. The diffusion line has become so popular that is has devalued the luxury collection. You see a Michael Kors Collection handbag and wonder why the heck it costs so much. Check out the Michael Kors Miranda Novelty Tote and you will see what I mean.

Don’t get me wrong, I think this tote is gorgeous. I love the ice blue stripe that runs down the middle. It is quite striking against the luggage tan background, giving it a bold look. Yet it has almost a whimsical quality at the same time, something that I have come to appreciate in a lot of handbags. It looks sophisticated without looking too stuffy. In fact, the style almost reminds me of those wine totes meant for toting wine bottles for a picnic. When you look inside this tote, it certainly is spacious! You could fit all kinds of things in there! But a picnic? Uh, probably not in a $1100 handbag. I still think it is gorgeous, but I can’t help but wish this was a MICHAEL Michael Kors piece.

Available at Neiman Marcus for $1095.
