Meghan Markle just shared her plans for 2019’s International Women’s Day.
On Friday, Kensington Palace announced that the Duchess of Sussex, 37, will participate in a panel discussion on Friday, March 8, which is celebrated as International Women’s Day each year.
The palace describes the event, hosted by King’s College London, as “a special panel of female thought-leaders and activists to discuss a range of issues affecting women today.”
“In front of an audience of students, opinion formers and young leaders, Her Royal Highness will join the panel to discuss the importance of International Women’s Day, and the spotlight it can bring to obstacles which still affect female empowerment across the world, including access to education and limitations within employment,” a statement from the palace read.

“The discussion will also cover the positive opportunities that come when women are given wider access and equal opportunity, whether that be in the UK or elsewhere in the world.”

The palace also announced the other panelists who will be joining Meghan on March 8 — including music icon and activist Annie Lennox, model and activist Adwoa Aboah and former Prime Minister of Australia Julia Gillard.
Meghan has a long history of celebrating International Women’s Day.
Last March, Meghan and Prince Harry stepped out in Birmingham for the holiday. Inside the Millennium Point building, Harry, 34, and Meghan joined young people at an event hosted by the social enterprise Stemettes, where young women were taking part in a variety of activities designed to boost recognition of science, technology, engineering and math–based education and jobs.

During their quick visit with locals, Harry made a 10-year-old budding actress’ day when he took her to meet Meghan, who gave the little girl advice and a hug.
“Meghan told me that I can achieve whatever I want to achieve. And Meghan said she would like to see me on TV when I become an actress,” Sophia Richards, from Oasis Academy, Warnson, said. “It was a dream come true. I will never forget this day.”
During International Women’s Day in 2015, Meghan gave an impassioned speech at a UN Women’s conference in New York in which she discussed gender equality.

“I am proud to be a woman and a feminist, and this evening I am extremely proud to stand before you on this significant day, which serves as a reminder to all of us of how far we’ve come, but also amid celebration a reminder of the road ahead,” she said.
“It is said that girls with dreams become women with vision. May we empower each other to carry out such vision — because it isn’t enough to simply talk about equality. One must believe it. And it isn’t enough to simply believe in it. One must work at it. Let us work at it. Together. Starting now,” she concluded.
