Mae Young Classic: Commentary Team & Premiere Date Announced

We have been learning some of the competitors who will be involved in the Mae Young Classic tournament over the past few weeks. We know a good chunk of the women who will be wrestling on the new show, but WWE still wants a great female presence for the tournament. It has been revealed now that WWE Hall of Famers Lita and Jim Ross will be calling the action when the show finally makes it to the WWE Network. A report put out by WWE confirmed the announce team for the show. Lita is a multi-time Women’s Champion and is regarded as one of the most legendary female performers in company history. She and Ross will be calling the tournament together for the first time ever.
But wait! We also have discovered some other important bits of news that came out in WWE’s report. The company announced that the first four episodes of the tournament will officially be streaming on August 28th. Episodes 5-8 will be available at a later time on September 4th, and the finale is going to be airing live on the network on September 12th. The shows are going to be taping at Full Sail University, but the finale is going to take place at Las Vegas, likely before a Smackdown show that is occurring in the same city. The WWE Network is also going to be premiering a feature called Mae Young Classic: Bracketology that is going to be following SummerSlam. Be on the lookout for the new show to premiere in August.
The Mae Young Classic, apart from how the show is being aired, seems very similar to last year’s Cruiserweight Classic tournament. We know that so far Toni Storm, Princesa Sugehit, Lacey Evans, Sarah Logan, Tessa Blanchard, Abbey Laith, Kavita Devi, Jazzy Gabert, and Taynara Conti have all been announced to compete in the tournament. No new participants have been announced at the moment. The new series is going to begin taping in July at Full Sail University. WWE is taking all the steps necessary to make sure that the show feels like a big deal, and it could be a show that will open the eyes of many fans to some new talent. More details and announcements about the Mae Young Classic are bound ot come out very soon.
