Kenzo Tiger Tote – let me hear you roar!

When it comes to big cats and handbags, I typically think of leopard or cheetah prints. Every once in awhile, I will spot some tiger stripes. However, it is definitely not every day that I see a tiger on a handbag that is staring back at me. Well that is exactly what happened today when I first laid eyes on the Kenzo Leather Tiger Tote!

First impressions are everything and this tote made a big one with me. My first thought when I saw the embroidered tiger was that it reminded me of a tiger from the Chinese zodiac. After looking into the history of this designer, I discovered I wasn’t too far off. I mean, at least I had the right continent. Kenzo was founded by Takada Kenzo, a Japanese designer who moved to Paris in the 1960s. He opened his first boutique in 1970 and his vision was to create pieces that were both classic and contemporary, all with a multicultural twist. So the tiger was actually inspired by the designer’s Japanese heritage. This definitely puts a unique spin on the whole big cat theme. I love it! After all, those tiger eyes are quite mesmerizing. How could anyone resist?
