Karen Walker Phrase Clutches

Handbags with words or phases printed on them are certainly not a new thing. You see them literally everywhere. So I wasn’t all that surprised to see these Karen Walker Phrase Clutches pop up on one of my favorite websites. Although the clutches themselves are far from unique, the story behind the designer kind of is. So I decided that these clutches were worth a second look.

It is said that New Zealand-born designer Karen Walker celebrates the “anti IT girl”. You know, like 1930s comic book heroines or Allison Reynolds (Ally Sheedy) in The Breakfast Club. Using the outsider as inspiration, Karen Walker has blurred the lines between chic and street. The idea is something I find quite intriguing, even if the clutches are not exactly extraordinary. I do, however, appreciate their overall simplicity. The bold black letters really stand out against the cream background. The interior is lined with a cute polka dot print fabric too. These clutches are definitely something that should reflect a person’s mood and personality. So for right now, I think I will stick with the “Hello and Goodbye” one. It sort of reflects the feeling I am having right now: Been there, done that.
