Houssem Aouar is stalling over his future as he waits for Premier League interest

As reported by L’Équipe, Lyon want to sell midfielder Houssem Aouar this summer but the player is stalling over a decision on his future, despite interest from Spain, as he waits for Premier League interest to arrive.

The 24-year-old Frenchman has just one year to run on his current contract at OL and, having seen his form and influence decline slowly but surely over the last two seasons, the French club are looking to cut their losses this transfer window. Lyon had demanded around €60m for the player back in 2020 but are now open to allowing Aouar to leave for just €15m, a 75% decrease in the club’s valuation.

Real Betis are interested in signing the player and a delegation from the club has travelled to Lyon to negotiate for the midfielder but Aouar is hesitating as he waits for English interest to develop despite having turned down a major move to Arsenal two summers ago. OGC Nice and Real Sociedad have also registered their interest in the player this summer.
