Hilary Duff has taken the placenta-eating trend to a whole new level.
During an appearance on Dr. Berlin’s Informed Pregnancy podcast, the 31-year-old mom-of-two revealed that she drank her placenta as a smoothie after welcoming her daughter Banks Violet Blair last month.
Duff rated the unique beverage as “the most delightful smoothie I’ve ever had… I haven’t had a smoothie that delightful since I was like 10 years old.” She added that “it was calorie-filled with juice and fruit and everything delicious.”

But she didn’t stop with smoothies. The actress liked her placenta so much that she decided to turn them into “ice cubes” as well other “treats,” according to E! News. For those wondering why Duff didn’t go the pill route with her placenta, she has her reasons. “I heard something weird about the pills,” she said. “I heard placenta burps are not ideal.”
For the record, the CDC has warned that some preparation methods could leave your DIY organ supplements contaminated with infectious pathogens — both in pill and smoothie form.
Duff’s daughter is her first with her boyfriend, musician Matthew Koma, and joins her family that includes 6-year-old son Lucas from her previous marriage to Mike Comrie. From all the social media posts that the former Lizzie McGuire star has shared of her little girl, it seems like life as a family of four is going pretty well.
Cheers.
