Joachim Menze has been appointed head of the European Commission’s regional office in Munich. It covers both Bavaria and Baden-Württemberg, whose combined population is 23 million. Menze is currently in Lisbon, where he is head of unit for legal and financial affairs at the European Maritime Safety Agency.

Before that he worked for OLAF, the European anti-fraud office, for four years, and for the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development. He started his career in the Commission’s competition department in 1993.
