Handbags can do more than hold our stuff and look pretty. For me, handbags can actually bring back memories. When I saw the Gucci Dionysus Snake Embroidered Handbag it reminded me of my recent trip to Costa Rica. I was casually looking through a first aid kit. Almost all of the instructions were in Spanish and I kept thinking to myself, boy I hope no one needs first aid! In the box was a vial. It was the only thing that had words on it that I could read (I took French in high school). The label said “Anti-Coral.” After looking at some pictures, I realized that it was a vial of antivenom for a coral snake bite.
As strange as my memory is, that is exactly what came to mind when I saw this bag. It has the classic Gucci signature print, of course. But front and center is a very colorful snake embroidered directly onto the flap closure. If you remember the rhyme, you will know that this is a coral snake (“red touch yellow, kills a fellow”). The red, black, and yellow strips are rather striking. The Gucci Dionysus Bag is crafted from coated canvas in a structured accordion silhouette, it’s detailed with an embroidered snake and the label’s signature web stripes. Inside, this style has three internal compartments and a python-trimmed flap pocket for optimum organization. Overall, I think this is a gorgeous piece.
This bag would certainly make a statement, although I don’t know how practical it would be for an everyday.
