When most bagistas think of skulls, they probably think of Alexander McQueen. While this designer is very well known for its skulls (particularly the skull clutches), there is another designer I still think of whenever skulls are mentioned. Does anyone remember Thomas Wylde? Whatever happened to that designer? It seems like they just fell off the face of the planet. I checked their website and there are new collections. So why am I not seeing them around anymore? Oh well, I suppose it doesn’t matter. The only reason I bring it up is because the bag you see here reminded me of Thomas Wylde (rather than Alexander McQueen). Meet the Frye Skull Studded Tote!
Frye makes some awesome boots and shoes! But they make some nice handbags as well. It was the skull on the front of this bag that caught my eye. Like Thomas Wylde, the skull is made up of a bunch of studs. Small and round, just like little nail heads. Unlike Thomas Wylde, however, this skull features a side view. This is definitely less common and I think it gives this tote a unique look. Since this tote is from Frye, you know the leather is going to be nice too! The finish is called shine vintage, which simply means the leather is broken in and polished. The result is quite beautiful. It has a touch of shine, yet it looks like it has already seen a lot of love.
