Founded in 1918 by Adele Casagrande but not established until 1925 with it’s upscale name, Fendi (with the partnership of her husband Edoardo Fendi), the Roman based shop was one of Italy’s most coveted fashion secret. The House of Fendi began as a leather goods and fur retail shop and as it’s popularity gained, it was only ideal for its founders to progress into a larger store. Into a refurbished movie theatre they moved, which is known today as the Fendi Flagship store right in the center of Rome.
1965 was a great year for Fendi as German designer Karl Lagerfeld joined the family as he was titled Creative Director. Lagerfeld is responsible for creating the double F logo, creating soft and easy-to-wear outfits, and production of imaginative designs on their fur and leather goods. Some of the houses most memorable pieces includes, the infamous Baguettes, the Spy, twin tote, the boston bag, and the Fendi B. Bag. The instant success of Fendi later launched a collection of fragrances, eyewear, and couture timepieces. Some of Fendi’s most infamous customers include Salma Hayek, Naomi Campbell, Oprah, Jennifer Lopez, the Olsen twins, the Hilton Sisters and Sarah Jessica Parker.
