Exotic Luxe: Sonia Rykiel Striped Python Domino Bag

I don’t know what it is about nautical-inspired pieces, but for some reason they have been catching my eye this year. Perhaps it was the Maiyet Sia Shopper that got me started. I mean, I did enjoy writing about it. I loved it because it was nautical-ish, but not necessarily nautical themed (e.g. no anchors, ropes, sailboats, etc). So now I cannot help but see nautical inspiration everywhere I go. That is what I see in the bag pictured here, the Sonia Rykiel Striped Python Domino Bag!

This lovely piece pairs navy and red stripes of varying thickness with a rich cream background. The stripes and colors suggest a nautical-ish vibe. However, like the Maiyet Sia Shopper, that vibe is very subtle. It has that nautical feeling without employing gaudy anchors (or similar nautical-theme motifs). What also makes this piece unique is the fact that it is made of python. Yep, that isn’t something you see everyday. Well, not in a nautical sense anyway. It allows this bag to be either dressy or casual, making it surprisingly versatile. I see this bag pairing nicely with solid colored pieces, particularly cream or navy blue, which would help create the illusion of a nautical theme without there actually being one.

The exotic Python version retails for $3175.
