Colorblock: Pierre Hardy Alpha Bag

Black and white is making a comeback this spring. I don’t know if I would call it a trend necessarily. I mean, black and white handbags have always been around. They just seem to come in waves. When I saw the handbag pictured here though, I immediately stopped in my tracks. This piece gives a whole new meaning to black and white.

Now I don’t know a whole lot about this designer, other than the fact that he is more well known for his shoes. But his handbags have been showing up on the virtual shelves over at Net-A-Porter, so I thought it was about time I took notice. Pierre Hardy does a lot of colorblock stuff, but this black and white version definitely bumps things up to the next level. I am absolutely mesmerized by the way the black and white are an inverse of each other on opposite sides of the bag. It makes this piece very interesting and unique. I picture this handbag paired with simple pieces such as a little black dress or sleek black pants and a tailored white shirt. Together they would make a very sharp, art deco-esque look.
