Christophe Galtier praises Kylian Mbappé’s reaction to losing World Cup final

In his press conference before Paris Saint-Germain’s return to Ligue 1 action against Strasbourg tomorrow night, Christophe Galtier notably commented on the outcome of World Cup final, which saw his star fowards Lionel Messi and Kylian Mbappé face off.

His words reported by RMC, the coach first pointed out that he would not be commenting on the exuberant Argentine celebrations – Emiliano Martínez’s taunts of Mbappé causing uproar – explaining that “I don’t comment on celebrations, that belongs to the Argentines”.

Galter went on to say that for him, the most important aspect of the final was Mbappé and Messi shaking hands, after a match that saw both step up to the occasion with three and two goals respectively. For the former Lille manager, the World Cup’s top scorer showed an “exemplary attitude” in congratulating his club teammate and Argentina manager Lionel Scaloni. He added that it was not Messi who was taunting Mbappé in the Albiceleste celebrations, and that he would not be commenting on Martínez’s actions.

“Kylian was very disappointed but he managed to congratulate Leo with a lot of class, that’s good for the club.”
