What would a handbag serve if they didn’t contain stories? That is the mindset of designer Bendetta Bruzziches. Growing up in the theatrical town of Caparola (Italy), Bruzziches developed a passion for the arts. This becomes apparent when entering her studio, which is filled with fairytale and poetry books, wooden men, and old blackboards. So when I stumbled upon the Benedetta Bruzziches Fringe Carmen Bag, I just had to ask… what is the story behind this bag?
There are quilted handbags and there are fringed handbags. I don’t think I have ever seen a handbag with both! But this Benedetta Bruzziches Fringe Carmen Bag does and I have to say, the look is quite interesting. The quilting isn’t what I would call traditional quilting though. The leather is gathered at various points and secured with a round button-like stitch. In fact, it sort of reminds me of a leather couch or chair. Not in a bad way though! Accompanying the quilting is a tuft of fringe attached vertically on each side of the bag, which resemble “tails” more than the traditional “curtain”. And do you see that little splash of color in there? The fringe has some accent metallic blue pieces mixed in to give it a more in-depth look. So pretty! This unusual combination of quilting and fringe make this Benedetta Bruzziches Fringe Carmen Bag a great piece to mix things up a bit.
