Calavera Skull Inspired Clutches

I know it is a little late, but I saw these calavera-inspired clutches the other day and I just could not resist writing about them. For those who don’t know, calaveras are decorated candy skulls that are given during Day of the Dead celebrations. They are commonly made of sugar cane, but there are a lot of other varieties out there. I have always been fascinated by them because I like skulls and I love all the bright colors. So when these calavera-inspired clutches popped up on my computer screen, I was instantly intrigued. These clutches are both gorgeous and fun. What more could a girl ask for? If nothing else, they would make wonderful conversation pieces. Take a look!

Charlotte Olympia Calavera Skull Clutch Bag. $1595
Keeping with her style, Charlotte Olympia managed to sneak a spider web into the design. I love how the bright colors painted on the perspex seem to jump out at you. It reminds me so much of the real thing! The jewel eyes are a nice touch too, they give this piece a little more dimension.

Judith Leiber Floral Skull Crystal Clutch. $5495
It wouldn’t be a Judith Leiber clutch without zillions of Austrian crystals covering every inch! I love this clutch because it is a 3-D skull. It doesn’t have that traditional calavera feel to it, but the pastel flowers are still gorgeous.
