MINNEAPOLIS – Troy Beaman was fourth at 285, going 4-2 with four victories by fall, as the St. Olaf wrestling team competed at the NCAA Division III Upper Midwest Regional at Augsburg University on Friday and Saturday.
Beaman lost his opening-round match before running off four straight wins. He won by pin in 3:56 in his first consolation match before back-to-back falls 1:17. To reach the third-place match, he pinned Wheaton’s Max Gierke in a mere 44 seconds. Beaman lost a 10-0 decision in the third-place match.
St. Olaf was 13th of 17 schools competing at the event. Beaman was one of seven St. Olaf wrestlers to compete in the event and the only to register a wrestled victory.
