Bags in Highlighter Hues

Fluorescent colors, neon colors, highlighter hues, or whatever you want to call them… they were a hot thing when I was a kid. You name it, everything was trying to jump on the highlighter hue bandwagon. I believe Crayola even came out with some neon crayons. If I remember right though, they didn’t work very well when you tried to color with them. It was like the wax was too hard or something. But like many trends of the 1990s, this one quickly became a distant memory. And those crummy crayons? I think those went in the trash. Now here we are nearly 20 years later and suddenly the highlighter hues are making a bit of a come back. It started a couple of years ago with Marc Jacobs. Good old Marc is pretty quirky, so I didn’t give it a second thought. Recently though, other designers have been picking up on the idea. Now handbags in highlighter hues are turning up practically everywhere. Admittedly, I wasn’t totally on board in the beginning. But after seeing some pieces from my favorite designers, I have started to warm up to the idea. These handbags are definitely not for the faint of heart! If you like to have fun though, I think you will enjoy the playfulness of these pieces. Below you will find some of my top picks. Just remember though, these are just the tip of the iceberg!

Rebecca Minkoff Flirty Bag in Neon – $250
This quilted leather crossbody bag is so cute! I absolutely love the all-over dimples. Plus the cone stud-encrusted bottom provides a nice extra touch.

McQ Alexander McQueen Kingsland Vinyl Tote in Neon Orange – $210
The most recent pieces from McQ have been out of this world! This translucent vinyl tote would make a great waterproof beach bag.

The Cambridge Satchel Company Fluoro Satchel in Neon – $155
Ever since I first laid eyes on these little satchels, I knew I had to have one for my own personal collection! I love the simplicity and the double buckled-strap front flap closure.
