Antoine Kombouaré turns down Ivory Coast job

As reported by Fabrice Hawkins, Nantes coach Antoine Kombouaré has turned down the chance to take charge of the Ivory Coast national side.

After the Ivorians failed to qualify for the World Cup in Qatar later this year, former coach Patrice Beaumelle left the post after 20 games in charge since March 2020.

Reports that Kombouaré was approached by the Ivorian FA were correct says Hawkins but, although flattered, the veteran manager turned down their offers.

Despite having a year left on his contract at Nantes and having won the Coupe de France this season, Kombouaré’s future at FCN remains uncertain amid an uneasy relationship with unpredictable club president Waldemar Kita.
