Angel Di Maria set to retire from international football after the World Cup

Having played and scored against Venezuela for his nation on Friday, Argentinian midfielder Angel Di Maria took to Instagram to announce that this game was likely to be his last played at home for the national team.

Writing in Spanish, Di Maria posted, “I’m just going to say thank you for the enormous love received. I always dreamed of everything I experienced on this beautiful night. It was probably my last match with this shirt in Argentina. And to be able to say that it was a wonderful night is an understatement.”
