As reported by Le Parisien, having extended his contract into a final optional year for this season, PSG forward Ángel Di María is close to adding one further season to his deal.
Although the Argentine will be turning 34 in February 2022, the Paris paper reported that a verbal agreement exists between club and player and, unless things change, a new deal will be agreed next spring.
Di María has repeatedly said he is keen to stay in Paris in recent months. In speaking with TNT Sports Argentina last week, reiterating his thoughts from a recent RMC interview, Di María said: “I want to stay because I’m very happy here, and so are my family. The children are very happy at school. I would like to leave through the front door.”
Having been a little more on the fringes of the side after the arrival of Lionel Messi, the forward has also stated he would be willing to return to a midfield role, a position he excelled in for Real Madrid, to get more playing time.
