ST. CLOUD, Minn. – Unattached North Dakota State freshmen wrestlers Hunter Weber and Justin Scherkenbach each claimed runner-up finishes at the 2012 Holiday Inn/Husky Open wrestling tournament hosted by St. Cloud State University on Saturday.
Weber (Marshall, Wis.) registered three consecutive pins to earn a spot in the finals at 125 pounds, where he dropped a 9-6 decision to Mike Fuenffinger of Augsburg.

Scherkenbach (Muskego, Wis.) posted a technical fall, a pin and a decision to advance to the championship match at 133 pounds. Andy Pokorny of St. Cloud State won a close 8-7 decision over Scherkenbach for the title.
Weber improved his season unattached record to 18-6, with 13 of those wins coming by fall. Scherkenbach is now 15-4 on the year.
Unattached senior Tyler Diamond (141) and unattached freshman Grant Dullinger (125) each earned fourth-place finishes.
St. Cloud State Holiday Inn/Husky Open results
North Dakota State hosts No. 15 Oregon State in a 2 p.m. dual at the Bison Sports Arena tomorrow.
