There were many fans who took to social media last night to pan Monday Night RAW from Milwaukee as one of the worst episodes in the show’s history. However, an unlikely defender of the show emerged among the villagers showing up with torches at WWE’s door.
Cody Rhodes, just after being named Wrestler of 2018 for his work on the independent circuit, appeared to come to RAW’s defense, tweeting the following:
Y’all being negative…
Is it really that bad?

Rhodes still has friends and a brother working for WWE, so he probably doesn’t want to come out trashing the product. But many fans spewed venom over segments which have drawn a lot of scorn on social media, including Drake Maverick peeing on Bobby Roode’s famous robe to allow Authors of Pain to retain the RAW Tag Team belts, a cringeworthy promo from Nia Jax that was only slightly saved by Ronda Rousey stopping the show to thank the fans for their raucous support of her, another mean girl segment with Alexa Bliss picking on Sasha Banks and Bayley and a main event featuring four men – Baron Corbin, Drew McIntyre, Bobby Lashley and Finn Balor – who don’t really scream star power to the WWE Universe and the tired trope of an authority figure abusing his power.
Here’s some of the tweets from fans responding to Rhodes:
The worst in recent memory to say the least

Which is hard to believe because it’s literally the exact same show every week. How they can put out the exact same show week after week & still somehow make it worse every single time is truly remarkable. Vince really is a genius.

Cody,
I am a fan of 32 years. This show is an absolute abomination to wrestling. Believe me and everyone when we say a resounding…YES

I’ve watched WWE since before the Attitude Era, lately this has been the WORST stuff I’ve ever seen on RAW.

NXT is definitely a Rose in a bed of thrones at the moment. It’s about time they really started tapping into the UK talent pool.

I hope rumors about “All Elite Wrestling” are true, so I can finally cancel WWE Network and pay for a product that is worth watching.
