As part of a continuing RAW storyline, Ruby Riott, Liv Morgan and Sarah Logan continue to torment Natalya about her ties to her famous wrestling family and the recent death of her father, former WWF star Jim “The Anvil” Neidhart.
During their feud, Riott even supposedly broke a pair of sunglasses Natalya received from her father. Up until now, it’s kind of seemed like a par-for-the-course WWE storyline. You have to create heat for the heel and sympathy for the babyface character. However, Riott just tweeted out an online attack on Natalya, claiming that her entire 10-year career in the spotlight has been nothing but essentially leeching off the Hart family name. Even though I’m sure this has been signed off on by Natalya and WWE creative, it just sort of seems to be mean for mean’s sake. Here’s the tweet Riott posted a few hours ago and a response from Natalya:

. @RubyRiottWWE, the only one leeching off my family name is you. Picking a fight w someone who isn’t here…to boost your stagnant career is easy. Warning: I’m still here. I CAN respond. And I will. Promised on my #HartFamilyHonor https://t.co/BLbW46F9Vu

Maybe it’s just part of the circus that WWE has created to drum up emotions from its fans. But something just seems to have crossed a line with the WWE and some its storylines. Whether it is Drake Maverick having problems controlling his bodily functions, Dean Ambrose using Roman Reigns’ very real fight for his life against leukemia in a promo and now Riott harping on real loss in Natalya’s family, perhaps there is a line that is getting crossed in a promotion that is trying to market itself as family friendly.
