MOORHEAD, Minn. — MSU-Moorhead Senior Blake Bosch advanced to the semifinals at 133 pounds at the Super Region 3 wrestling tournament which began on Friday at Nemzek Fieldhouse in Moorhead, Minn. Five other Dragon wrestlers kept their hopes of qualifying for nationals as well.
Bosch (27-1) opened the day with a bye and then scored an impressive 14-3 major decision win over Paul Selman of Minnesota State to reach the semifinals. He will face Josh Walker of Upper Iowa. Bosch, a two-time All-American, is the defending region champ at 133 pounds.
Also keeping their seasons alive are sophomore Jared Goldsmith, sophomore Kristian Vazquez, senior Isaac Novacek, sophomore Adam Blees, and senior Nader Abdullatif.
At 125 pounds in the wrestleback round, Goldsmith won a 3-1 decision over Marty McFall of MSU-Mankato. He will wrestle Maleek Williams from Upper Iowa on Saturday morning. At 141 pounds, Vazquez won a fall over Lawyer Morgan-Beckum in 5:41 to punch his ticket to Saturday.
At 157 pounds, Novacek won a major decision over Jordan Hegel of the University of Mary, while Blees won a 3-2 decision over Tyler Harrington of McKendree. At 285 pounds, Abdullatif won an overtime decision against Dominic Tudor of Mary to advance to Saturday.
Redshirt freshman Logan Rhode (184)won one match on the day 184 before being eliminated in the wrestling backs. Sophomore Brayden Kuntz advanced to the wrestle backs thanks to a bye before being eliminated.

Session 1/First Round
Bosch received a bye at 133.
Vazquez won by pin at 141 pounds over Derek Hall of Lindenwold to advance. Senior Isaac Novacek picked up a win at 157 pounds, as he won a 14-3 major over Kegen Fingalson of SMSU.
At 174 pounds, Blees won a wild 14-8 decision over Minot’s Carlos Toldedano to advance to the second round.
Abdullatif also won his first match at 285 with a 12-4 win over Minot’s Jacob Belland.
Sophomore Brayden Kuntz is still alive at 165. He lost his first match by technical fall but earned a bye in the wrestle backs. His opponent will be determined after the quarterfinal round.
At 149 pounds, Dylan Connell lost a 10-1 major decision to move into the wrestle-back round, where he was eliminated by Hunter Eckert of Mary, 4-3. Sophomore Cody Anderson went 0-2 at 197 and was eliminated.
