North Dakota State opened the dual portion of its schedule on the road. No. 8-ranked Iowa defeated the Bison 38-6 on Nov. 17. Paul Bianchi was the lone winner for NDSU at 125 pounds. North Dakota State dropped a 21-19 decision to No. 13 Northern Iowa in a Big 12 Conference dual on Nov. 19 that came down to the final match. Native Iowans, 133 McGwire Midkiff and 197 Cordell Eaton, each posted wins for the Bison along with 157 Clay Ream, 165 Andrew Fogarty and 285 Dan Stibral. Oklahoma State dominated No. 6 Minnesota 30-3 on Nov. 19 in Gallagher-Iba Arena. OSU head coach John Smith recorded win No. 400 in his career. There were nine winners for the Cowboys against the Gophers including No. 1 141 Dean Heil, No. 12 149 Geo Martinez, No. 6 165 Chandler Rogers. No. 12 174 Jacobe Smith, No. 11 285 Derek White and No. 4 133 Kaid Brock.

North Dakota State received 4 points toward the USA Today/NWCA Division I Wrestling Coaches poll released Nov. 21 … The Bison are one of five Big 12 Conference teams in the rankings including No. 3 Oklahoma State, No. 16 South Dakota State, No. 17 Northern Iowa and No. 21 Oklahoma … Nine opponents on NDSU schedule are ranked in top 25 … The Bison are tied for 38th in the TrackWrestling/Resilite rankings … North Dakota State was tied for 46th in the WIN Magazine Tournament Power Index.
