MSUM Wrestling Falls Short in Upset Bid Against No. 19 Upper Iowa, 18-15
MOORHEAD, Minn. — The Minnesota State University Moorhead wrestling team came up just short against the No. 19 Upper Iowa Peacocks on Saturday afternoon losing an 18-15 dual. Both teams won five matches on the afternoon.
The dual started at 125 pounds where sophomore Cole Jones knocked off the returning national runner-up Maleek Willimas via 12-9 decision.
“That win at 125 was huge,” head coach Kris Nelson said. “Cole came out and worked hard and picked up a win over the returning runner-up, which started us off on a good note and from there we continued the momentum.”
