CHICAGO, IL — The FAA is reportedly investigating after a medical helicopter crashed onto its belly in the Interstate 57 median on Chicago’s South Side, according to reports. The Eurocopter 135 air ambulance crashed around 9:15 p.m. Saturday in the city’s Fernwood section, The Chicago Tribune reported.

The rotors weren’t moving and smoke was billowing out of the aircraft when emergency responders arrived. The original patient was in critical condition and three crew members are stabile, Chicago fire officials told the newspaper.
The cause of the crash remains under investigation.
