Drawstring bucket-style bags have been making a real comeback lately. I suppose they were never completely “out”, but they seemed to fade quite a bit over the last 5 years or so. I have always loved this style though, so I am glad there are more popping up now. You really can’t go wrong with one, that is for sure! When I think of a drawstring bag, I think of a casual look and a relaxed shape. While this may be true 99% of the time, 3.1 Phillip Lim has somehow gotten around it. What I mean is, this designer has managed to add a little structure to this style. Introducing the 3.1 Phillip Lim Scout Drawstring Bag!
So how did he do it? The traditional shape of a drawstring bag is there, but a little something was added to give this bag an edge (figuratively AND literally). The base is actually framed with shiny nickel piping. The result is a cube-like bottom to an otherwise unstructured piece. The look is very different and unique. But I like it! I think it dresses the bag up just a little bit and it adds a touch of shine. The drawstring bag isn’t so casual anymore!
