India is set to face an abundance of schools in the coming future due to a sharp slowdown in population in the country, meaning the number of school-going children will fall eventually.
The Economic Survey, presented in the Parliament on June 4, highlighted the need to consolidate or merge elementary schools given the projected decline in the population of elementary school-going children.
It stated this will have “very important social and economic consequences” and the need will arise soon to make them worthwhile.
