When I think of Alexander McQueen, I think of black and white. I think of skulls and chunky hardware. Sure, there might be a color or two thrown in there now and again. Red, cobalt blue, maybe even nude. But these colors always go along with the traditional style of Alexander McQueen: Modern with a little bit of a Gothic twist. So I think it is safe to say that baby pink is completely off my radar when I think of this designer. Oddly, baby pink has shown up in the past a few times. But never have I seen anything quite as “girly” as the handbag you see here. Introducing the Alexander McQueen Mini Heroine Satchel!
The Heroine has been an iconic piece ever since it debuted a few years back and I have seen it in its many renditions. This particular rendition is rather unique though. It is black, trimmed in white, and accented with light pink cutouts on the front. I am not totally sure what the cutouts are supposed to be. Are they flowers? Leaves? Whatever they are, the layered effect combined with the varying shades gives this piece a lot of depth. It is very spring-y too. The color palette alone reminds me of cherry blossoms. Although a bit out of character for Alexander McQueen, I suppose the fact that this is the mini size would signal that this is supposed to be a novelty piece. It would look cute paired with a black dress for a not-to-serious, but still sophisticated look.
Retails for $2545.
