The petite and massively structured clutch has had its share among various designers. It must be a popular style if many have presented their own version of the squared clutch, just never really thought it came so handy with such minor dimensions. The latest adaptation of the structured clutch comes from Diane von Furstenberg. The Tonda clutch features a rectangular shape, wrapped around in fine leather, with a metal frame that gives it the extra stiff structure.
The first designer that comes to mind with a similar clutch in this style was by the French designer Christian Louboutin. Louboutin’s version housed a lock closure of two metal shoes; while Furstenberg’s edition arrives with a metal twig closure. Louboutin’s shoes had significance as his high quality accessories made the name famous, but we can only speculate the meaning of the twig. Perhaps it signifies the latest development and growth of the season or something that DVF wants to expand more of into her collection.
You may have to look at the hinge closure for a while in order to make out what it is, but its definitely unique and a symbol you don’t see often in the fashion world. Embossed Ostrich ($375), Sliced Leather ($365) or Leopard printed hair calf will suit the animal print ($495) enthusiast.
